Im in class right now, I love having tumblr on my phone. Anyway, the distinction between explanation and understanding can be described through the disciplines of natural science and humanaties, respectively. This is a very anglo-american viewpoint though. In german scholastics they are destinguished as nater wissenschaften and geistes wissenschaften, which mean natural science and spirit science....
